Mathem has entered into an agreement to merge with Norway’s counterpart Oda. The two companies are now joining forces and together they will form a new Nordic market leader in e-commerce of groceries with home delivery with combined sales of over SEK 5 billion. Operations in Sweden will continue to be run under the Mathem brand.
Axfood’s current shareholding in Mathem will be transferred to a shareholding of just over 4 percent in the new combined company Oda Group.
- The deal with Oda strengthens Mathem’s long term competitiveness, and together these companies create valuable synergies. The merger forms a stronger player on the Nordic market and creates opportunities for increased efficiency and continued growth, says Carl Stenbeck, Head of Strategy and Business Development at Axfood and board member of Mathem.
Swedish operations will continue to be run under the Mathem brand. Dagab’s current long term delivery and cooperation agreement with Mathem regarding purchasing, assortment and logistics will not be affected by Mathem’s merger with Oda. Mathem will also going forward continue to develop its collaboration with Dagab in order to continue to offer its customers an attractive assortment.
